DX5022 – The Third Generation Dynax Fluorochemical Foam Stabilizer

We are pleased to announce the introduction of a new fluorochemical foam stabilizer, DX5022.  DX5022 is designed to be used in synthetic and protein- based alcohol-resistant fire fighting foam agents, such as AR-AFFF and AR-FFFP agents.  Over the next 6 to 12 months period, we expect that DX5022 will replace DX5011, the current benchmark foam stabilizer that we introduced to the agent industry 12 years ago.

When compared to DX5011 at the same level of actives, DX5022 provides improved fire performance on such polar solvents as ethanol and isopropanol.  DX5022 is especially recommended for the development of low viscosity or even semi-Newtonian 3x3, 1x3 and 1x1 AR-AFFF and AR-FFFP agents. In contrast to DX5011, DX5022 has a significantly lower viscosity (660 vs. 1700 cPs at 20°C) which makes the handling of this foam stabilizer much easier.

We are proud that in addition to the improved fire performance and handling properties DX5022 will allow agent producers to formulate environmentally more benign AR-AFFF and AR-FFFP agents. DX5022, as DX5011, is derived from a high-purity (>99.5%) C6-fluorotelomer, and shows the same low toxicity as DX5011.  When compared with other fluorochemical foam stabilizers on the market, DX5022 is a light-colored product, free of bi-products such as sodium chloride and iodide.
